History of potato

The potato history has the roots in the mountains of the South America not protected from a wind. Local residents have found out and grew up a potato approximately 7 000 years BC They have been impressed by its durability, quality of storage and its food value. Though potato tubers were productive and hardy, local residents applied this fact a little. A potato considered as meal for lyumpenizirovan levels of population.

It became one of the primary factors which have caused a population explosion in the beginning 1800. In the middle of 1800 Irish became so dependent on this product, that the potato poor harvest has caused hunger in the country.

There was a big decline of productivity of a potato, awful illness has been caused by a mushroom known as Phytophthora infestans. It is the most widespread and most dangerous illness of a potato which has led to a devastation of potato cultures across all Europe. For example, potato hunger in Ireland has cut the population by half both through hunger, and through population immigration.

Effective fungicide for struggle against illnesses has been found in 1883y. French botanics Alexander Millarde. Soon the potato has obtained a mass recognition across all Europe and finally has returned back across Atlantic to the North America. Since then the potato became one of the main products of the world.
