History of a tractor |
|
The first steam engine which was used for agricultural tractors, has been developed in 1868. Such a tractor were made in the form of the small locomotive and coped one person. Such tractor about 5 tons weighed. A tractor were used basically for the general freight traffic and, in particular, for trade in forest products. The first high-grade tractor has been created in 1879y. The Most popular steam tractor was Garrett 4CD which has worked till the moment of creation of the petrol engine. The first engine with petrol fuel has been created in 1887y. In 1892y. John Froelich from Iowa has decided to test capacity of the engine, having established the petrol engine for chassis Robinsona and having adjusted it for mechanism use in quality thresh the device for harvesting. Tractor Froelich, the predecessor of later tractor of Waterloo who as is believed by many, is the first successful known tractor working on gasoline. Machine Froelicha has generated a line on improvement of petrol engines and, finally, known inventor John Dir has created the two-cylinder engine. In 1800 years five scientists have begun work on working out of gas engines which has been finished in the end of 1800. This working out has allowed to open the first factory on manufacture of engines on gas draught in the United States in 1901y. At Henry Ford's enterprise under the guidance of chief engineer Joseph Galamba for the first time there has been begun manufacture of tractors with the petrol engine. The name "tractor" was not used, and it was called “an automobile plough”. These tractors were intensively used in agriculture. In 1904 the project of tractor Harts on the basis of one of the earliest multicylindrical engines which provided smoother course and transfer of the rotary moment on rear wheels has been developed. In 1906y. Patrick Lions has become interested in the project of tractor Harts and as a result agreements manufacture of tractors at factory in Minneapolis has begun. Originally the company was called "Transit threshers" and was engaged in manufacture thresh mechanisms. These mechanisms joined tractors and were applied to grain gathering. But in due course such mechanisms have lost the popularity and consequently in 1908y. The company has been reorganised in the industrial company which made only tractors. The new line on manufacture of a tractor which have nicknamed “Big 4” because of its massive four-cylinder engine has soon been created. However to 1920y. Farmers have lost interest to heavy tractors which were replaced with easier and more maneuverable models. |
